Another weekend...

So I totally forgot to post awesome pics of our Christmas tree fully decorated!!!

Our 1st Christmas Tree
This past weekend wasn't too eventful since my husband went away on a short snowboarding trip to Mammoth Mountain with a friend from work. I have to say, I definitely enjoyed the me time. I met up with my friend for coffee Friday morning and ran a couple errands, then Saturday I went to Palm Springs and did a little Christmas shopping. Although, I wish I would have avoided the mall! OMG. That place was insane, I couldn't even find a parking spot. I seriously went to ONE store and was outta there. There were all these extra stands set up throughout the mall and it just made it that much worse maneuvering through the mall. YIKES.  I love the weekends this time of year because of....CHRISTMAS MOVIES! Hallmark and Lifetime play new ones Saturday and Sunday nights, it's my absolute fav thing right now..plus ABC Family has their 25 days of Christmas!

Anyways...we still have yet to do much of our Christmas shopping..I did a smidge this weekend but there is still so much to do. Hopefully we can do most of it online!

Fill in the Blank Friday on Saturday

1.  "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is..."   to dance around and sing Christmas songs all year.

2.  The holiday season is  my favorite time of year, it makes me so giddy!

3.  When it comes to holiday decorating...    I go all out. We went and bought our Christmas tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I decorated it that night! We will have lights to put up outside!

4. The thing I look forward to most about the holidays is   going shopping and how everywhere you go is decorated for the holidays, it just makes me feel so good inside.

5. My favorite holiday tradition is  getting the tree after Thanksgiving and making Christmas cookies in December.

6. This year my Christmas plans include  going to some holiday parties and spending time with husband. It will be our first Christmas TOGETHER married. Last Christmas he was deployed so we missed out.

7.  My favorite holiday food is my moms toffee crunch!

Crazy Life

I promised I was going to try and keep this blog updated but I have been doing a pretty lousy job of it! Let's see, what is new with me lately....I have been doing so much paperwork for stuff that it's coming out my ears! I just finished all my paperwork, fingerprinting, etc so that I can substitute teach in our local school district and I am excited. I can't wait to get back into the classroom, it's where I feel at home and where I am happy. I have also been doing paperwork, background checks and fingerprinting, etc for my Masters degree, it's ridiculous. I can see the light at then end of the tunnel though! I have worked part time or full time since I was 16 so this not working thing has been driving me up the wall, I hope that all my paperwork is processed soon so I can get back out there! Life out here in 29 has been pretty good so far, I have made a friend or two and that's probably what keeps me sane!!! haha. I am thankful for girl time!!! Not that I don't adore my husband because I do.

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is coming up, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas, it is my absolute favorite holiday! It just makes me giddy! I cannot wait till we have our own little kiddos to spoil! Last weekend we went out and purchased our FIRST Christmas Tree together and we bought all sorts of decorations, it was fantastic. I had so much fun last weekend with my husband. Friday he had off work so we went to Palm Springs and had margaritas and chips and salsa/guac. YUMO. Then we went and bought Christmas decorations for the house and tons of frames for pictures. It was BLACK FRIDAY so we got some excellent deals. We went to this restaurant called the Yardhouse and it has a gazillion types of beers, which was awesome! The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful, it had low lighting and I just for some reason love that. THEN my husband took me to the Cheesecake Factory so I could satisfy my sweet tooth! I really do have an amazing husband, he knows me so well and treats me like a princess! Then Saturday we went and picked out our tree, it took us, mostly ME 30 minutes to decide on a tree @ Home Depot. YES HOME DEPOT...out here in the middle of the desert you cannot grow these wonderful trees haha..they have to be shipped in from other locations.  Saturday was great...EXCEPT we came home to find our one dog took a massive crap on our practically brand new couch. My husband said he must be mad at us for some reason...that was not fun to clean up! haha. WHICH REMINDS ME...last week the Monday prior to Thanksgiving, my husband and I were trying to get a 25lb turkey in the oven because we were having a lunch at his office. WELL...his dog has "issues" and next thing I know he bites my leg and then my pinky. Needless to say....I was a mess and we went to the ER on base to make sure it was all okay, they cleaned me up really well and gave me antibiotics. It's over a week later and both places are healing up nicely. That was def. a scary moment. BUT I AM OKAY.

PEACE AND LOVE!

Monday Monday

Ah Monday. How I loathe thee. We had a pretty uneventful weekend but it was definitely a relaxing one for the most part. My husband had recorded this movie called "Misery" on our DVR. It's based off of a Stephen King novel. Let me tell you what, it was definitely creepy but pretty good. This week is looking to be a pretty good one because we have the Marine Corps Birthday Ball coming up on Thursday. I'm pretty excited because I haven't been to one since 2008 since Wolf was in Japan for 2009 & 2010 and then last year he was in Afghanistan. I have to say this year, I really like my dress & I am getting my hair done as well. When I attended in 2008, hated my dress and I didn't even get my hair done, plus I feel like I look better now than I did 4 years ago! HA.

We have been out here in SoCal since May and it has been quite the adjustment at times. I finally feel somewhat settled here & I have met some really nice women so far. I am looking forward to getting more involved with the OSC on my base & also doing more things with the wives of my husbands unit. Finding a job out here hasn't been the easiest task but I have been lucky enough to sign up for substitute teaching at the local school district. I still have some paper work and HR things to finish up before I can even take sub jobs but I am really excited to get back into the classroom. I am starting my Masters in Teaching Elementary Education in January and I can't wait to get started. Originally, my plan was to get my Masters in Education in School Counseling but I decided getting my teaching license would be much quicker & better for the time being. I definitely plan to go back in the future to become a School Counselor.

I pray something comes up job wise in the near future, just something part time would be wonderful!

Fill in the Blank Friday

So I have been MIA from blogging for a pretty long time. I thought maybe I would try a go at it again because my life is always changing & new things are always happening! I will just keep things simple for today!

1.  Something I swore I'd never do, but have ended up doing anyway is  marry someone in the military. Funny enough..married one year to a US Marine, we've been together over 4 years and through 2 deployments.

2.  Something I've always wanted to do is  go to Italy and see all the amazing tourist attractions and eat the amazing food.

3.  Something I have absolutely no desire to ever do is   eat sushi again..YUCK.

4. The best thing I ever did was   get married to my best friend. He is more than just the man I love, he is also my best friend in the whole world. I am so lucky to have someone who I can just be myself with and who accepts me for who I am.

5. When it comes to trying new things, I am  all for it depending on what it is. I am kind of a chicken when it comes to trying WEIRD new foods. However, when it comes to doing something crazy and risky..I will always do it.

6. One thing I've never done is  fly out of the United States. I've been to Canada but that's it!

7.  My favorite thing to do is  sit at a home on a Friday night in my PJS cuddled on the couch with my husband, watching a movie!

HELLO APRIL!

I am so excited that April is finally here!! I am so close to being done with my classes for the semester MEANING...I will be done with my Bachelors Degree in Education!!! AHHH YAYAYAY! However, my education doesn't stop there, I will be returning to school next year to get my Masters in Teaching Elementary Education. April also means we are getting super duper close to the end of this deployment and my move to California. WOW. I am so excited to start looking for a house out in Cali and to make some new friends and just start my life with my husband. I have so much to do this month and so many things I want to do before I leave PA!!! I will fly out to Cali for a few weeks and then come home for a week or so and then drive out to Cali with my sister so my car is there plus I can take some smaller stuff along. We will have to come back for the larger items later in the summer but no big deal. Some days I lack motivation to get my school work done, like today but somehow I managed to push through and get some done!

It's My Birthdayyyy

Wow, another year, another birthday, hard to believe! I realized the other day that the last time my husband and I spent my birthday together was when I turned 22 and I am 25 today. HA. The last birthday of his we spent together was his 30th one and he is now 32 but we will be together in August when he turns 33 so I am grateful for that.

So 25...I don't feel any different, just a little older and a little wiser and maybe a little stronger. The weather outside is gloomy right now but I have heard it's suppose to clear up and maybe the sun will show it's face for today. My husband told me something should be coming for me today...so I watched for the mail and it came but nothing was there for me. SO I am wondering if it's through UPS or FEDEX? I am such a dork sitting here by my window and jumping at any loud vehicle type sounds because I think someone is coming to deliver something....

My husband did however make sure to call me this morning, bright and early and sing happy birthday to me while I was half asleep! haha. Last year when he was in Japan he recorded a video of himself singing it and I still have it....it's too cute. My husband is so serious and can have such a tough exterior to those who don't know him well but he is the biggest goofball I know. Trust me, I have the videos on my iPhone to prove just how silly he is!!!!

We are coming to the end of this deployment very very soon!!!! OMG OMG as I am sitting here I heard loud vehicle sounds and IT IS A UPS TRUCK!!!!! My husband sent me chocolate dipped strawberries!!! AWES he knows me ever so well. That is not the only thing he got me...he also got me a camera I wanted so badly but it's currently on backorder. I am so spoiled by him, he is truly the best!!!

Amazing News

So Wednesday afternoon I received a wonderful phone call from my husband. He told me he was coming home from this deployment a month early!!!! I was so excited and shocked. I was like you are kidding me, you are fibbing!!! HE WAS NOT! I NEVER would have thought he would be coming home EARLY!!! I am so excited to see him when he returns. I have never missed him this much before. Now everything is so crazy and I have so much to do until he gets back and very little time to do it in!!! A little overwhelming and stressful....although I know we will work together and get things done regarding finding a house out in Cali and also moving everything from PA to CA!!! Ahhh so much to dooooo!!!! Today I went and got my 3rd tattoo and my sister got her very first one!!!! She did SO WELL, I was actually shocked, I was worried she wouldn't handle it well but she didn't complain once.

My sisters foot tattoo..it's an Audrey Hepburn quote.

MY wrist tattoo..It's a bible verse "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"

Where Does the Time Go...?

Well life has been super crazy...pretty much all year!!! I said I wanted to be busy because it would help this deployment go much quicker and IT HAS! At times though, I feel so overwhelmed with everything going on and then thinking about all the things to come. I am excited but at the same time I am nervous and scared about everything. I just hope that I have enough time to get everything done that I need to before moving to Cali. It's really hard having your husband & best friend so far away in a foreign country. He doesn't always have time to talk and it always seems to be that way when I really need him. There are days I just feel like I am gonna fall apart but somehow I push through. I am lucky to have such great family and friends in my life..that has made everything easier but ultimately at the end of the day...I just want my husband.

My field placement hours are going pretty well but slow at times. AS much as I love working with kids and I want to be a teacher..it can be soooo incredibly boring to be in the classroom when you aren't the one doing all the teaching! Thankfully on Monday I was able to get my feet a little wet. I was able to instruct the classes on the activity they were going to do that day and I also read a book to them AND I also did a group reading and discussion with some of the class, which was really great. I am now in the process of working on a lesson plan and will then have to teach it in the next couple weeks..I am pretty nervous about this but I think since I am the one coming up with it, I will know what I am talking about and wanting to do..so it will make it less nerve wracking..I HOPE!

Exciting Times to Come

So I am trying to get back into blogging again..more like trying to find the time to write again between being in school full time..working part time...doing a field placement in an elementary school (4th grade) & planning a wedding. HA. I am one busy lady but the more I have to do, the better. If I have too much free time on my hands...I tend to get depressed, so I welcome the distractions. My husband is currently deployed to Afghanistan and we are actually a little over halfway through this deployment. It's gone fairly well and at a decently fast pace, thankfully but it's definitely not been easy. I am so ready to welcome him home....it's all I can think about ha. I can't believe that February is almost over, I love March...mainly because my birthday is that month. March is going to be a crazy fun and awesome month!!! It includes...taking a cooking class with my mom and my cousins and aunt, super exciting. I am getting my third tattoo on my wrist and my sister will be getting her very first tattoo on her foot. Also, March is one month closer to my husband coming home and it means I will be over halfway done with my LAST semester of college for my Bachelors Degree in Education. SO HAPPPPY! I'm working my butt off in my classes and doing really well so far, I am very proud of how well I have been doing. We also just found out last week that my husband will be getting promoted to Captain later this year, which means we will be living in Cali till 2014 and I couldn't be more excited!!! I cannot wait to move out there. I look forward to all the amazing adventures that we will be having together over those 2 years and all the years to come. I am so excited to somewhat settle down somewhere for a little while and I secretly I hope to start a family within that time...but only time will tell and we will have to see what God has planned for us.

HALFWAY(Test Post)

We are finally halfway through this deployment.....I am so incredibly grateful that I have made it through this far with only having one major meltdown!
