The Military Life

So.....I was in bed last night and a thought came to me...being a military family means my kids most likely will never experience life like I did.  My husband and I both grew up in the same small town in Central Pennsylvania, went to the same high school and knew a lot of the same people. Most of my family, cousins, etc are all from the same town or nearby towns. We would all get together for big holidays or sometimes just because. My husband plans on staying in the Marine Corps and making it his career, meaning we have about 15 years to go and a few moves in there.  My kids will never experience growing up like my husband and I did but at the same time, I think it will be a good thing.  At times, I felt like I was sheltered because I grew up where I did. I really didn't see much outside of PA until my husband and I started dating over 4 years ago. It's because of this lifestyle, I have gotten to see so many different places in the United States and I can't wait to explore other countries as well!

I wouldn't change anything about how I grew up, as much as I complained about where I lived and how far it was from everything, the older I've gotten,  the more I have come to appreciate that small town life. Do we ever plan on moving back there? Absolutely not. Do we plan on coming back to the east coast someday? Sure. Don't get me wrong, I love SoCal and it's warm and wonderful weather but I am hoping our next duty station is on the east coast! We have about a year and a half left in SoCal and we hope to find out by the end of the year where will be heading to next. I am really looking forward to whatever life may have in store for us.

xoxo,

Sarah P.
